How to Create a Paracord Survival Bracelet

Paracord is often used to make survival bracelets.  550 Paracord is versatile and strong cord make it an ideal tool for outdoor activities such as rope climbing, tourniquets, and making nets.  The paracord’s inner strands can also be used for things such as marking trails, fishing, sewing, and traps.

Having paracord fashioned in a bracelet is a great way to have several feet or perhaps a few dozen feet of paracord worn conveniently available on your wrist.

Paracord is very affordable and is a must-have for outdoor enthusiasts.  Ready to get started on creating your paracord survival bracelet?  Check out this easy- to-follow step-by-step video.

Paracord Survival Bracelet

For starters, you will need:

  1. Paracord rope (550 paracord recommended)
  2. 1/2″ side release buckles
  3. scissors
  4. lighter

Now, let’s get started!

Measure the Paracord

To determine the amount of paracord you will need. Simple math. Figure 1 ft. for every 1 in. of bracelet.

General rule of thumb:
1′ per 1″ of bracelet. So if your wrist is 8″ around, you would use 8′ of paracord.

Attach the Clip

Fold parcord rope in half. At half way point, feed the clip through. Take ends of rope and feed it through the loop you just made.  Make it snug.

Now, take the 2 opposite ends (cut ends) and feed those side by side into the other end of the clip. Move the clip down the length of the rope until the distance to the opposite clip is the desired size of the bracelet.

Braid the Paracord

There are many different types of braids for survival bracelets. We are showing a cobra braid in this video, however if you would like a demo of another type of braid, please let us know and we will create additional demo videos. To see a visual on how the cobra braid is done, please see Step 3 on the video.

The Finish

Cut the extra paracord as close as you can to the braid.  Then use a lighter to singe those unfinished ends. Allow a second or two to cool slightly, then pat ends.

That’s it! Try it on. So now that you have your survival bracelet, where will your first adventure be?
