Broadcloth is a close plain-weave fabric with a soft, firm hand made of cotton or rayon or blended with polyester. It has a fine rib in the filling direction, caused by slightly larger filling yarns. This tightly and plain-woven lustrous cotton cloth resembles poplin, but the ribs are finer and broadcloth has more picks than poplin. Finest qualities are made of combed pima or Egyptian cotton. High end broadcloths have a glossy or velvety feel. Broadcloth was originally a silk shirting fabric. When conceived it was woven in widths that exceeded the typical 29 inches and therefore, called broadcloth.
Polyester Cotton Broadcloth fabric is stylish and very versatile. It can be used for team sports blankets, sports jackets, stylish trench coats, adult and baby clothes snowsuit and beanies.
